SWEETGRASS follows Isabelle and her daughter Mariya for over seven years, as childhood gradually gives way to adolescence. Between daily life, the land, and powwows, the film accompanies a living transmission: that of a language, gestures, and a way of inhabiting the world, carried by a lineage of women where kokom remains ever-present. Without attempting to explain, SWEETGRASS observes what circulates between them, transforms, and takes root over time.
